United Arab Emirates (UAE)

The UAE has become a key business hub in the Middle East, attracting international brands and businesses. With a rapidly growing economy and an increasing number of luxury and technology goods in the market, the prevalence of counterfeiting remains a significant concern. According to the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC), counterfeiting is estimated to account for around 5-7% of global trade, and the UAE is no exception, with counterfeit goods being seized regularly at its ports and marketplaces.

The UAE government has taken substantial steps to address this issue. The Ministry of Economy has implemented stringent laws and regulations aimed at combating counterfeiting, such as the UAE Federal Law No. 19 of 2016 on Combating Commercial Fraud. Additionally, authorities have been working closely with international organizations to monitor and curb the circulation of counterfeit goods. The UAE has also committed to increasing awareness and enhancing cooperation between government agencies and the private sector to ensure stronger enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPR).
